Reasonable Suspicion Training

Our Reasonable Suspicion Training for Supervisors course meets the requirements of FTA, FMCSR, and FAA compliant companies that require supervisors to receive at least 60 minutes training on signs and symptoms of probable alcohol misuse, and 60 minutes training on the signs and symptoms of probable drug use.

Our Reasonable Suspicion course identifies the physical, behavioral, speech, and performance indicators associated with probable alcohol misuse and use of controlled substances.  Our 2.5 hour Reasonable Suspicion course provides attendees with the basic knowledge and skills needed to determine whether reasonable suspicion exists to require an employee to undergo drug and alcohol testing.

A study conducted by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration revealed that drug impaired driving is seven times more prevalent than alcohol impaired driving.  One reason for the above revelation would be that most people can smell the odor of an alcoholic beverage on a persons breath, so it is easy to identify someone who has been consuming alcoholic beverages.  However, most prescription and illicit drugs do not have any odor associated with them.  The lack of an odor means that a person using certain drugs is less likely to be detected.  One example would be the current opioid epidemic that has reached all of America, from small towns to big cities, coast to coast.  There is no odor associated with opioid use.  A major concern for employers should be what percentage of their workforce may be reporting to work impaired.  The ability of an employer to recognize and remove an impaired employee from the workforce is crucial to maintaining a safe work environment.
